Guru Nanak Dev Dental College & Research Institute is now affiliated to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India granted approval to start a dental college with 60 admissions per year on Sept 4, 1997. The institute got the permanent recognition from Govt. Of India vide letter no. V.12018/31/2001-PMS dated 28-12-2001.
It was a big achievement for the institute to get recognised in the shortest possible period. The admission capacity was increased & recognised from 60 to 100 from academic session 2004-05 by the Govt. of India vide letter no. 12017/21/2004/PMS dated 20-09-2004.
The college added another feather in its cap when the Govt. Of India permitted to start MDS courses in seven specialities. It was the first private dental college in the state of Punjab to have MDS courses. Another distinction was that of starting MDS course in The Dept. of Oral Medicine and Radiology. This has been possible with the dedication of the management and the staff of the college.
In 2005, another distinction which the institute achieved when the Dental Council Of India permitted and recognised dental mechanic and dental hygienist courses with 20 seats. Our institute was the first one in Punjab to have these courses.
